How much power can you transfer?
PowerbyProxi’s patented technology has enabled power transfer levels ranging from 50mW to 1kW. The scope of this technology can be extended beyond 1kW and the scientific concept of magnetic induction has been applied to transportation and materials handling systems requiring tens of kiloWatts.

What is the power, efficiency, range, and size of your system?
Together, the metrics of power, efficiency, range, and size performance determine system performance.
Currently one of our benchmark systems, the Proxi-Ring™240, can transfer 240W of power with 90% efficiency at a range of 10mm. The dimensions of the system are: 150mm in diameter; a system transmitter that is 62mm high; and 62mm system receiver.
These metrics can be optimized for different applications. For example, if the system needs to be optimized for efficiency, we can utilize higher power-rated components. However, this will reduce the system’s power density (power to volume ratio).

Are there any health risks associated with this technology?
New Zealand’s leading medical schools, the University of Auckland and the University of Otago, both conducted studies and found no adverse health effects. A copy of the study results is available upon request.
Do Proxi Solutions interfere with other electronic devices?
PowerbyProxi Solutions are tested against CE, UL and IEC standards. These standards include Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing to ensure that our products do not interfere with other electronic devices. The precise directives and tests are specific to the application of the Proxi solution. A list of these standards and directives is available upon request.
Where are your products manufactured?
Currently, PowerbyProxi uses two contract manufacturing sources in New Zealand. Our engineering team works with the manufacturers to optimize performance and price so that our customers receive a superior product.
As our customer base grows, we are investigating sources in North America and Asia that will continue to provide high levels of quality while offering increased capacity and flexibility.
What are your off-the-shelf products and what do they cost?
Today, PowerbyProxi offers several evaluation units that can serve as off-the-shelf products. These include Proxi-Point™, a point-to-point stationary transfer unit, and Proxi-Ring™, a unit that supplies power to rotating, highly mobile industrial equipment. Quotes for these products are available on request.

What is the average per-watt cost of your products?
PowerbyProxi offers solutions that have power-only capability, and systems with power and wireless data capability. For systems of 75W to 1kW, the average cost of a unit is $4.50 per watt. For power and data, the average cost is $6 per watt. However, many factors can affect the cost, including distance between transmitter and receiver, available footprint, and load characteristics. We’ve heard about other wireless power companies. Why haven’t we heard about yours?
PowerbyProxi has been working to deliver wireless power solutions for industrial customers since 2007. Our focus has been to target applications with significant maintenance and reliability issues that result in significant lost revenue.
With this focus, we have not invested a great deal of money into marketing. Instead, we have continued to develop and improve our technology. With significant success and a broad portfolio of technology embodiments to our credit, we are now expanding our marketing efforts to better introduce PowerbyProxi.
What data protocols do you support?
PowerbyProxi devices offer wireless data transfer and wireless power. Our initial protocol was CAN-Bus and we have expanded to include Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and PLC 4-20mA current loops. We can also support derivations of these protocols such as Profibus and Profinet. Additional protocols will be available in the latter half of 2010 as part of a new data platform, Proxi-Com™.
Is your IP patented?
We have several new patents in process and many more in the review and filing stages, making PowerbyProxi the leading innovator and IP leader in the wireless power field.
What makes your technology so unique?
Our ability to provide real world coupling and variable load management creates a distinctive solution to meet the needs of innovators across industries.
How do you calculate your efficiency metrics? (and how does this compare to others)?
Efficiency metrics are calculated as power output over power input at rated load.
Do you offer customized solutions?
Yes, PowerbyProxi can build a solution for your application or recommend an off-the-shelf model that matches your requirements.
Complete our Product Requirements form and we will be in contact with you directly on your best suited solution.
What is Dynamic Harmonization Control?
Patented, PowerbyProxi’s dynamic harmonization control (DHC) tuning technology provides significant advantages over other solutions. In response to environmental and load changes, DHC varies frequency dynamically. DHC achieves greater power transfer efficiency, enabling smaller receiver sizes and generating negligible electromagnetic interference, even as it allows greater transmission range.
What is Proxi-Wave?
Proxi-Wave is a third generation, wireless power delivery system. Patented Proxi-Wave technology uses coils to transmit and receive power. A converter – powered through AC mains, a truck battery or other sources – drives the transmitter coil. The Proxi-Wave controller regulates the power flow from the receiver coil to the target electrical device or electronics.
