Wireless Standards

We believe strongly that any standard must deliver real end user benefits and we see 3 fundamental requirements as a minimum for any wireless power standard:

  1. Loosely coupled wireless solutions as opposed to the current focus on tightly coupled wireless solutions that offer little benefit over existing cable based power solutions.
  2. Efficiency levels from the plug to the device that meet or exceed the performance of existing cable based power solutions.
  3. Consumer safety by keeping to the lowest effective transmission frequency.

We recently joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) which has been a leader in setting a global standard for wireless charging with their Qi platform.  Our role and the reasons behind our joining the WPC, is to become an active member on the management team and use our expertise and intellectual property to help advance the technical capabilities of the Qi standard and ensure consumers can enjoy the best charging experience.

PowerbyProxi is also a member of the wireless standards initiative being led by the Consumer Electronics Association. We continue to strive for a wireless charging solution that offers the greatest benefit to consumers and will use our position on both these groups to promote interoperability, flexibility and ultimate convenience.
